The Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course in Hong Kong introduced the world’s first solar-powered golf carts. An estimated 50 to 70 percent of savings on power consumption, bringing an estimated HK$400,000 or US$51,610 in savings annually.
The solar-cell roof panels, fitted to the fleet of 205 carts will contribute an estimated reduction of 30 tonnes in carbon emissions a year.
The project is a collaboration between the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Denmark-based company, SolarDrive.
